The Foundation of Rural Development (FORD) Trust is a community based organisation involved in specific empowerment and development activities with the active participation of the target communities who are socially marginalised, economically deprived, educationally bereft and come from a culturally conservative rural community.

The Trust was registered in 2002 under Indian Trust Act 1882. It is presently working in 27 villages and hamlets in Sivagangai and adjacent Pudukkottai Districts of Tamil Nadu, India.

The Partnership with Kamla Foundation

Kamla Foundation, in partnership with The Ford Trust, has started to work in the Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu, where we are already making a significant impact on the community situation as a whole and on the empowerment of women in particular. We are planning new initiatives and continue to encourage them to form Self Help Groups, get access to micro credit, impart usable economic skills & training, and help establish business enterprises, all methods by which they can break out of their cycle of dependence.

"Changing Minds - Changing Lives" is at the root of the philosophy of Kamla Foundation and it firmly believes economic development is one of the best ways to liberate the lives of the Dalit community. Helping them to stand independently, support their family, provide education for their children, and find personal freedom.
